Bird Hike Along Cienega Creek: Sign Up Today! 

Join the Rincon Institute on our monthly Naturalist Outing in September - Tucson Audubon will be leading a birdwatching excursion along Cienega Creek. Summer migrants that may still be lingering include, Northern Beardless-Tyrannulet, Bell's Vireo and Lucy's Warbler, and the Creek attracts waterbirds such as, Great Blue Heron and Green Kingfisher. We'll look and listen for these specialties and many more! The Rincon Institute will provide water and the Tucson Audubon Society will have some loaner field guides and binoculars. Limited space is available so please RSVP by Thursday, September 11.

Remember To: Wear sunscreen, hat, long pants, and hiking shoes. If you have your own binoculars and bird field guide, please bring them with you.

Directions:

The Three Bridges are located southeast of Tucson near Vail.

 

From I-10: Take I-10 and exit onto Frontage Rd/E Marsh Station Road. Notice on the map where Frontage Rd/E. Marsh Station Rd meets 2 railroad lines. There's a parking lot on the right-hand side of the road before the bridge where we will meet at 8 am.

 

From Old Spanish Trail: Take Old Spanish Trail East towards Colossal Cave Mountain Park. Turn right on Camino Loma Alta and follow to the end of the road. Turn right on Colossal Cave Rd then take a left at the lights to continue through Vail on Colossal Cave Rd. Turn left at Benson Hy/W I-10 Frontage Rd (just before you cross the bridge over I-10). Continue on the Frontage Rd for approximately 5.5 miles. Notice on the map where Frontage Rd/E. Marsh Station Rd meets 2 railroad lines. There's a parking lot on the right-hand side of the road before the bridge where we will meet at 8 am.
